I find your work amazingly photo realistic! I would say you have advanced knowledge of soft pastels and have mastered them to perfection. I almost started a drawing of a giraffe just last week, so I've been looking at a lot of pictures. I think the anatomy is perfect, even the expression on his or her face is great. Can't tell which sex it is because they both have horns :giggle: I can almost count the hair on the chin, and I want to reach out and touch the fur. I really like the out of focus background, too.
I guess I can't say this picture is a fresh new style or approach, and I'm not sure visionary really applies either, so please forgive me if those scores are not 5 stars! (bad categories for this, in MY opinion.)
As far as impact on me - It blows my mind! Totally awesome! :wow:

This is so wonderful Sarah!! I love how the fur looks ~ your details are impeccable. Giraffes were my favorite animal growing up (and swans!!). You really have me so intrigued with the pastels! Another very beautiful piece of art!! :iconflyingheartsplz:

I think you are right there!! But I do enjoy being able to walk away and come back to work with what I have done while it is wet. It can be a love/hate relationship!!!
You have me talked into giving the pastels a try sometime!!!!!!!!!!
Okay ~ I  this ~ :icongiraffedanceplz:

Sure, oils are nice too. I've used them a lot, and watercolour too.
They all have their dis- and advantages

O_O I honestly thought this was a photograph when I first saw it! it's just amazing how real it looks! everything from the length of it's fur to the folds of it's skin and glistening in its eyes all looks lifelike and brilliant! and it has such fantastic detail! I also like that blurred background, it brings the giraffe into focus much more than a detailed background would.
such beautiful artwork <3
